Real Name: Kai’lia
Darth Name: Darth Mayla
Race: Twi’lek
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Rank: Sith Apprentice
Height: 5’ 10”
Weight: 170lbs.
Birth Planet: Ryloth
Alignment: Dark Jedi
Other Weapons:
N/A
Lightsaber Type: Two Single Phase
Lightsaber Color: Red, Yellow
Lightsaber Crystal Type: Lava, Velmorite
Lightsaber Combat Skills:
- Mayla is a master of Shii-Cho, the basis of all lightsaber combat. Over the years, Mayla can use the form with above exceptional speed, due to her training in the Jedi Order with velocities. After her time in the Order, she improved the form and acquired a more aggressive usage of the form, targeting the head more than the other targets, and using attacks more than parries.
- Mayla has also mastered Jar-Kai, allowing her to successfully wield two lightsabers. She uses the two sabers more for offensive usage than for one offensive and one for defensive. The problem with that is that if another force user was to overpower, she would be left defenseless, however, she is not worried of that, as she is strong with a saber user.
- Mayla is also greatly experienced in Makashi. Makashi is an aggressive form, and it suits Mayla well as she is an aggressive saber user. Her confidence seems to empower the combat, and her elegance makes it twice as effective. Mayla soon found the form was perfect for her.
Other Combat Skills:
N/A
Other Skills:
- Mayla has minor training in flying ships. She had more of a hands-on learning experience, and thus has little chances in combat while flying. However, Mayla is able to make voyages as a pilot, and has used the skill numerous times in her lifetime.
Force Powers:
- Mayla is experienced with the move Force lightning. The releases Mayla’s anger, as it tortures her opponents in a way she never could physically do. In the end it is a fun way for her to kill people. Mayla takes advantage of its effectiveness, and she enjoys not having to perform the hassle of getting out her lightsaber.
- Mayla also is experienced with Force Choke. Thus, she also is somewhat experienced with Telekinesis. Similar to the way Force lightning effects Mayla, Mayla enjoys watching her opponents be tortured and being able to attack without a saber. When she has had enough with torture, Mayla will end the move by closing her fist, thus breaking her opponents neck, and watching them fall to the ground with no life.
- Mayla is okay with basic Force moves, such as push, pull and sprint. Again, some basic moves using telekinesis, they help Mayla with everyday things, as well as some fun combat moves. And, although she doesn’t like to admit it, they also serve as great defensive moves for when Mayla finds herself in tough situations.
Personality:
- Mayla is a Dark Jedi, so she is hungry for revenge and feeds off of anger and power. Although it may not have been the main emotion that turned her from the Jedi, it did get her pretty far in life. Without her anger, Mayla would never have had the courage to kill her former Master, Mak, and join her current Master, Darth Talon. Along with hit, Mayla is somewhat stubborn.
- Mayla does have a kind side of sorts. She isn’t afraid to use skills acquired through the Jedi Order. She accepts the fact that she may need allies to complete certain tasks, but get her mad and you’ll pay. This is perhaps why Mayla accepted the teaching of the various masters she has acquired through the years. Her skills are phenomenal because she not only transfers power through anger and love, but through meditation, peace and the will to protect much like the Jedi.
- Mayla looks to her previous experiences for guidance on what to do in the future. A somewhat natural ability that not everyone does. Although it got her into some tough situations, it also got her out of some nasty ones.
Appearance:
- Mayla is a purple Twi’lek that has been through years of stress and pain, given her a slightly older appearance. However, she still is young and attractive. Her face has a few wrinkles, but nothing too noticeable. She also has dark, purple freckles along her head tails and under her eyes, along her cheeks, that add to a seemingly friendly and open personality. Mayla has eyes that match her skin color.
- Mayla often wears a black cloak she acquired through training. The cloak is complete with a hood that can reach just below Mayla’s eyes. She normally wears shiny, leather boats that reach just below her knees, and her head tails are covered by black, leather straps.
History: Kai’lia was born to an average family on Ryloth. Her home was located in a village on the outskirts of a small city, and her family, although not the wealthiest, had a good amount of money and a moderate spot in the village’s social class. Around 6 months after her birth, Kai’lia’s settlement was attacked by a group of Acklay. Although no one was killed, the village was completely destroyed, and unable to support life. The civilians were pushed into the city, and suffered severe prejudice as the city became crowded after their arrival. To avoid this prejudice, Kai’lia’s family fled the city on a ship. They ended up on the refugee sector of Nar Shadda.
Life upon Nar Shadda was, well, plain bad, especially for Kai’lia, whose personality was developing during that time. Refugees were found dead with no explanation, and if anyone searched for an explanation they would find themselves with the same fate. Kai’lia’s family didn’t have steady paying jobs. They worked when someone wanted to hire them, whether it be for a babysitting job, a repairman job, or anything that falls along the same lines. Kai’lia’s father came home tired, stressed out, and often angry, and Kai’lia was surrounded by screaming 24/7.
Luckily for Kai’lia, a Jedi had been assigned to a mission on Nar Shadda, and sensed the young girl’s Force potential. The Jedi was known as Mak Ayla, a human male. Her observed the family for a few hours every day, and realized the horrible conditions Kai’lia lived in. To protect her, Mak kidnapped Kai’lia from her home at the age of 18 months. He immediately brought her to the Jedi Temple, where, after a few tests, she was accepted into the Jedi Order.
Her Youngling training started a few years after her acceptance into the Order. Her Force skills seemed to fall behind that of her peers, but her skills with a lightsaber were well above the average expectations for her age group. However, it seems the events of her childhood could never be fully suppressed in Kai’lia’s mind. She had some anger issues, and often was rude to her masters.
In response to her attitude, Kai’lia wasn’t selected as a Padawan until the age of 13. Her master was to be known as Sjie Laeta, a human male. Sjie was young, and only took a Padawan to acquire the rank of master. Thus, he barely taught Kai’lia anything. However, Kai’lia still was able to learn much. She often visited the Jedi Achieves and acquired many resources of instructions on lightsaber combat and some basic force moves. Through this, she was able to master Shii-Cho and acquired an above average understanding of Makashi. She enjoyed Makashi, as it was an aggressive form and suited her personality well. Through these methods, Kai’lia was able to learn just as much as any Padawan would from a master. Perhaps she learned ever more, as she was able to choose what she wanted to learn and when. However, she developed the mindset that she possessed much control, which was not a good mindset to have in the Jedi Order.
In order for Kai’lia to become a knight, and Sjie to become a master, Kai’lia had to accompany Sjie on a mission. Sjie was assigned the investigation of a smuggling business on Coruscant. He set off with Kai’lia immediately.
The two Jedi were already given a location as to where the operation was taking place. They had to carry out the dirty work. They were told that the most important thing was to end this operation, but if they were able to capture anyone it would work as an advantage for the Republic, as they could question any prisoners.
Sjie was more an act, rather than plan, sort of guy. Thus, he merely told Kai’lia to cover him, and he rushed into the base. Kai’lia followed close behind, and when she entered she saw her master with his hands up surrounded by three men, each with a blaster pointed at him. His lightsaber was on the floor and he was left defenseless.
Kai’lia’s understanding of the Force was not of the greatest strength, but she had a basic understanding, and knew she could take down three guys easily. Igniting her blue Padawan saber, Kai’lia jumped in a spiral movement toward the men. She sliced down one, and then jumped in front of her master. Deflecting some blaster shots, she pushed the men back, jumped toward them, and they were eventually both dead.
Immediately Sjie scolded his pupil, saying it was all part of his plan and that he should be given all the credit for the success of the mission. Kai’lia had had enough. She was tired of being pushed around by the Order and Sjie. She looked down upon one of the dead men. When he had fallen, his blaster had dropped out of his hands. Kai’lia focused her eyes on the blaster. Without thinking she dashed toward it, picked it up, and fired at her master. Left defenseless, Sjie took 5 shots in the chest, and fell to the ground. He was dead a few moments later. Kai’lia felt almost overjoyed by the death. She had craved revenge on her master, and getting it felt well.
Kai’lia called for reinforcements, and after a few little lies she was free to rest in the temple. She also discovered she was an exceptional actor. She was able to fool even the most powerful Jedi, or so she thought.
When she returned to the temple, she had learned that a few Jedi had turned dark and rebelled against the Jedi. They estimated around 15 rebelled, and 12 were found dead, killed by Jedi or Jedi vanguards. Of them one master, Mak Ayla, the very Jedi that rescued Kai’lia. Kai’lia hadn’t seen Mak in a very long time. They had connected after her rescue, but since she started Jedi training the two were separated. Kai’lia was thankful for Mak’s actions, and didn’t believe he would turn to the dark side. Kai’lia was soon called before the Council. She discovered her actions at her previous mission were good enough to pass for the Jedi trials. She had been awarded knighthood. Following her promotion, Kai’lia asked if she could lead a squadron of Jedi to bring back the Dark Jedi. The Council members were know fools, and knew of Kai’lia’s previous relationship with Mak. However, they thought it may act as a good test for Kai’lia/ And so, they allowed her to be a part of the squad to bring back the Dark Jedi. The squad was to be made of 2 masters and 2 knights. Kai’lia was the youngest of them at 17.
The squad was quickly briefed on the mission. The Jedi were tracked to land on Mustafar. Their instructions were to end their reign as Dark Jedi, whether that meant bringing them back to the temple for healing of ending their lives there. The group landed, and divided into two smaller sections. Kai’lia was accompanied by a Mirialan, Master Vesta Yomin. Kai’lia immediately sensed Mak, as their connection was still strong. Perhaps she was wrong about Mak.
She explained her sensation to Vesta, and the two set out in Mak’s direction. Mak’s sense wasn’t as strong as Kai’lia’s, as the two Jedi surprised him completely. Vesta immediately drew her saber and destroyed Mak’s weapon, leaving him defenseless. However, Mak refused to surrender, and said Vesta would have to kill him. He then raised his hands, and let out a force lightning at Vesta. Vesta blocked it, and then drew another saber she had in her robes and headed toward Mak, who now had no form of defense what so ever. Kai’lia looked on, and realized her friend would soon be dead. She drew her blue saber and, without thinking, cut down Vesta. Vesta let out a scream, and fell to the ground. Kai’lia felt enlightened at the scream, a similar feeling she had when her master died.
Mak began to talk to Kai’lia, calmed her down and then explained there was no turning back. She would be his apprentice as a Dark Jedi. He first told her to pick up a better saber. She turned to Vesta, and grabbed the saber she almost killed Mak with. It had a yellow blade, and was fit for an advanced Jedi. Kai’lia told Mak of the other Jedi. Mak grinned, and said they cannot escape the planet alive. Kai’lia led him to the Jedi’s ship, where he destroyed it with his lightsaber.
He then began training Kai’lia, and told her to let the Jedi find them. Among his teachings, two Sith force moves, lightning and choke which Kai’lia picked up on easily and quickly improved. She practiced on animals, and became a master of killing.
It took about a week for the Jedi to find the new found Dark Jedi’s location. By that time, Kai’lia’s skills were well beyond that of a Jedi Knight. Mak took care of the master, while Kai’lia killed the Knight via force lightning. There truly was no turning back now. Kai’lia was in, and in deep.
Kai’lia trained with Mak for years. Her skills were double, maybe tripled of what they used to be. Mak saw it time for Kai’lia to step up to the next level. She “inauguration” of sorts was the construction of a lightsaber. Using a lave crystal found near the shores of the lava river of Mustafar, Kai’lia constructed a lightsaber with the help of Mak. She also chose a new name, Mayla, to remember the lost Jedi, Mak Ayla, that made her training possible.
Mak and Kai’lia spent a few more years training Kai’lia mastered duel lightsaber combat, known as Jar’Kai with the help of Mak.
However, he soon began to get abusive thinking that Mayla would soon overpower him. He needed to put Mayla in her place. Mayla quickly retaliated, and one night while Mak was sleeping, she stabbed him with her lightsaber. She then took his lightsaber, and left on the ship Mak and the other rebels had come on.
She headed to Korriban, now at 25, where she began to feel lonely and helpless. She sought guidance with a woman she found. The woman was a fellow Twi’lek with red skin and black splotches covering her body, as if she had been burned. Mayla was comforted by this woman, who went by the name Darth Talon. Talon made Mayla (who insisted on keeping her name as a memoir of sorts) her pupil, and Mayla continues to follow her teachings to this vary day…
“I may have done some bad things, but at least I have the strength to admit it.”
