Name: Mai Undola
Race: Togrutan
Age: 33
Gender: Female
Rank: Master
Height: 5’ 11”
Weight: 160lbs.
Birth Planet: Tantooine
Alignment: +5
Other Weapons: None
Lightsaber Type: 2 single phase sabers
Lightsaber Color: purple, blue
Lightsaber Crystal Type: Hurrikaine, Mephite
Lightsaber Combat Skills:
- As almost all Jedi are, Mai is a master of Shii-Cho, the basic of all forms for lightsaber combat. She has memorized all of the blocks and parries as well as the target points: head, right arm, left arm, back, right leg, left leg. Mai is also very familiar with velocities, the training sessions of Shi-Cho. Mai credits the velocities for giving her great speed and understanding of the form.
- Mai has also mastered Ataru, s form that allows her to stay active, and have exceptional combat ability as she grows older. It took much practice and exercise for Mai to learn the acrobatic form, but she eventually mastered it through hard work. Her favorite move is the Hawk-Back Swoop, which was created to allow one to attack quickly, not giving the opponent time to react. Although she has never used it on an opponent, she is very familiar with the move and is ready to use it when the time calls for it.
- Mai has also mastered Jar’kai, allowing her to successfully wield to lightsabers. She finds it to be a fairly easy, yet extremely useful form. When she does use the form, Mai usually uses one blade for offensive moves and one blade for defensive, as opposed to using both for offensive. The reason being that if Mai was to lose offensively, she still had her defensive saber to back her up, thus giving her a safety net of sorts.
Other Combat Skills:
None
Other Skills:
- Mai is able, and actually quite good, at flying ships. It was more of a hobby for Mai, rather than a combat skill, but she would still be open to flying one in the event of a space battle, although she prefers ground combat much more. When she exiled herself from the order for 9 years, Mai, with permission from the Order, flew a StealthX from the Temple, a ship used only by the Jedi.
- Mai has great debating and persuasive skills. It seems her years in the Order naturally gave her these skills, and because of them Mai never found a need to learn the skill Force Persuade. Mai would rather be following her own views, rather than that of an instructor. The only reason she listened to her masters was her fear of being in trouble and her realization that in order to be successful she would have to listen and accept her masters’ ways.
Force Powers:
- Mai has mastered stealth skills using the Force, and is able to use the ability Force Cloak. Although normally used by Jedi Watchmen, Mai was taught the skill by her master on Felucia to avoid the many dangerous creatures. The move involves bending light, causing one to disappear from the common eye. Mai improved the move when she exiled herself and moved back to Felucia.
- Mai also great sense skills via the Force, and can sense most Force presences. Using this ability, she discovered her mother in a group of slaves, which eventually led to her knighting into the Order. Mai also used this ability to sense the presence of the Dark Side within herself, after which she immediately went into exile and soon recovered from the trauma she had faced.
- Mai also has exceptional telekinetic skills, and can levitate many objects. She also has mastered the moves Force pull and push, in which she can maneuver objects without touching them. She can also pick up her lightsaber from afar. In the event a building was falling, Mai would have the ability to protect herself from any objects that would fall on top of her.
Personality:
- Mai is quite friendly, and has many friends within the Jedi Order, while remaining within the rules. She is normally easy going, and enjoys the feeling of happiness and the vive she receives when her fellow Jedi are happy. She is well-liked by most of her peers and colleagues.
- Mai is a strict follower of the Jedi rules, and breaking them is really the one thing that makes her upset with those of a younger generation. She learned to follow the rules the hard way, in the sense that she created a too strong of a bond with her master, forcing her down the path of the dark side and into self exile. She recovered and returned to the Order, a strict followed of the Jedi Code and rules of the Order.
- Mai has a clam domineer that she barely ever loses. In tough situations she can show no sign of emotion, something she learned to do when she was forced to arrest her own mother, who then shot at her before being taken away. The one time she lost this trait she exiled herself a fixed it immediately.
Appearance:
- Mai has a clear resemblance to former Jedi. Shaak Ti. She has two head montrals, each striped with the colors blue and white. Her body is of a vibrant red color, and is only contrasted by the color of her head montrals and two circular white spots that surround her black eyes.
- Mai is usually wearing her hooded, brown Jedi robes that cover a tan shirt. On her feet are two brown shoes that have been worn down through the years but still fit the purpose they were created for.
History:
Mai was born to her mother as a slave to a major crime lord on Tantooine. The lord had paired various females with males of similar species to create more slaves. Mai’s father was a Togrutan, along with her mother. She was raised by droids. Her parents had no contact with her, except for the occasional glance when they passed the child care area. Mai was the only child Togrutan, so they easily picked her out from the rest of the group.
When Mai was three, the Republic raided the crime lord’s base along with three Jedi who led the operation. Everyone that was in the base was taken to Coruscant for questioning and medical examination. It didn’t take too long for the Jedi to sense Force presence within young Mai, and soon enough a few tests confirmed it. The Jedi discussed with her parents to see if Mai could come to the Order. Her mother completely declined the offer, but her father seemed to need some time to ponder on the idea.
That night Mai was discovered on the doorsteps of the Jedi Temple, lying in a basket, by the Jedi Temple vanguard. She was taken in by the Jedi, and her training began when she came of age.
Mai was a fast learning in both lightsaber and Force training. Through her time as a Youngling Mai developed a fear of being in trouble, thus she followed her Masters’ instruction closely and was barely even scolded.
At 11, Mai was chosen by a Cerean master, Zez-Ma Ila, to become a Padawan. She spent a few years at the Temple, working on lightsaber combat, Force power and such. In this time she mastered Shii-Cho and began working on Ataru, a form which Zez-Ma thought suited Mai well. He also worked on some telekinetic skills with her.
By the time she was 16, Zez-Ma sought it time to intensify Mai’s training. He took her to the planet Felucia. The planet brought a feeling of peace to Mai’s mind. Meditation was easier for her, and she was able to connect with herself better. She also seemed to learn the ways of the Force twice as fast, while lightsaber combat seemed to continue at a similar rate. Zez-Ma and Mai spent 5 years on Felucia, during which time Mai became well connected with the ways of telekinesis, as well as Force stealth and sense. She also increased her knowledge of Ataru.
She returned to the temple at 21 with vast amounts of experience and some exceptional skill. At this time, Zez-Ma sought it time to take Mai on a mission.
A simple task: take down a crime lord on Nar Shadda. Ironically, the mission Mai was about to take part in was similar to the vary one that brought her into the Order.
The mission went well for a while. The squad consisted of Zez-Ma, Mai and a few members of the Republic military. They all arrived on Nar Shadda and headed over to the supposed location of the crime lord’s base. Indeed it was right where they thought it would be. The squad surrounded the base, and entered by force. Igniting his lightsaber, Zez-Ma said some formal stuff to see if for some reason the crime-lord would offer to turn himself in peacefully. However, Mai wasn’t focused on that. As soon as she had entered the base she received a gut feeling something wasn’t right. She received a strange vive, as if someone she knew was in the base.
Zez-Ma proceeded in approaching the crime lord. Anyone that stood in his way was apprehended by a Republic soldier. Suddenly a group of people ran from a back room out the front door. They caught everyone by surprise, thus no one really did anything to stop them. Even if they were innocent, they needed to be brought in for questioning and a medical examination and Mai knew this. She glanced at Zez-Ma, who gave her a slight nod, after which she ran from the base in hot pursuit of the group.
Using Force sprint, she soon reached the group. Sprinting in front of them, she stopped them by igniting her saber. The vive Mai had earlier suddenly returned in greater power. Most of the people came peacefully, saying they were innocent slaves taking advantage of an opportunity to escape. One woman in particular was making a scene. She kept oddly staring at Mai and refused to listen to her. Perhaps more disturbing, Mai connected this woman as the source of the odd vive she was receiving. When she was about to guide the woman with force, the woman suddenly blurted out that she was Mai’s mother. Mai’s pupils suddenly grew as she stepped back from the woman, slightly sick inside. After the woman brought it to her attention, she knew it to be true.
Just before this happened, Zez-Ma had come to observe the situation. Mai closed her eyes for a moment to think. She came to the realization that the Order had raised her, and it didn’t matter who birthed her. She approached the woman, and immediately turned her around and arrested her. The woman was stunned and continued to resist. Mai carried her over to some soldiers who took over the arrest from there. Suddenly, the woman twisted free, and grabbed a blaster from a soldier beside her. She pointed it at Mai and shot. Mai drew her lightsaber and deflected the bullets to the ground, showing no emotion. The woman was immediately forced to the ground by surrounding soldiers and dragged away.
Zez-Ma returned to Mai’s side, and told her to get some rest on the ship ride home. Mai did just that, but strangely, she found that when she awoke from her rest she was nowhere near Coruscant, but on the ice covered planet of Ilum.
She turned to Zez-Ma for an explanation. He explained that while she was resting, he contacted the High Council and explained her actions. They agreed that her actions could stand in for the Jedi Knight Trials, as she proved her loyalty to the Order by turning away from family. They were on Ilum to construct Mai’s first lightsaber, which she did with a Mephite crystal.
Mai returned to the temple, a Jedi Knight. She took the next few years to relax and meditate in the temple. A month after her promotion in the Order, she received word that Zez-Ma had died in the heat of a mission he son went on after Mai’s training was complete. Zez-Ma had told the High Council to give Mai his saber in the event he had died on the mission. Mai was given his purple lightsaber, which she humbly accepted. Mai’s emotion began to take over her actions, and she realized she had broken the rules of the Order by forming a major bond with her Zez-Ma, and allowing it to take over her body. Thus, she exiled herself from the Order, and found refuge on Felucia, a planet she was well connected with.
As she had in the past, Mai was able to increase her skills greatly on Felucia. Based on her knowledge and observations she gained an average understanding of Jar’kai, using her two sabers. She also mastered many Force skills, such as Force camouflage. After 9 years of exile, she finally forgave herself, and found it time to return to the Order.
She was accepted with open arms to the Order. She was then 31. Over the next two years, she was able to formally learn and master Jar’Kai. At 32 she took over the training of a Padawan whose previous master was killed, and whose training was nearly complete. After meeting with him once, Mai thought that he was good enough for the Jedi Trials. After a quick meeting with the High Council, her Padawan took the Trials and passed. Although she barely taught him anything, Mai was promoted to Master for successfully training him.
”Power, in itself, is a mystery. Power can be found in strength, in wisdom, and in experience.”
